Granada Airport is located just 15km, or 9.4 miles from the city of Granada, Spain, and is one of the most important airports in the country. It serves many areas within the region of Andalusia, including Jaen, about 100km from the airport. For this reason, Granada Airport is often referred to as the Granada-Jaen Airport, or by its full name, of the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, in honour of a famous poet who was an ambassador for these two cities. Arriving passengers can arrange private transport from one of the many car hire companies at the airport, such as Auto Europa Granada Airport. Auto Europa is one of the largest providers of car rental services in the world, with over 8,000 locations in various different countries.
Granada Airport has one passenger building with both arrival and departure areas located on the ground floor. It has a capacity for well over a million passengers per annum, and is a modern establishment that meets the needs of all its visitors. Facilities at the airport include shops and restaurants, duty-free stores, cash machines, a VIP lounge, meeting rooms, a post office and information services. There are also two tourist offices available, from where passengers can find out all the details of the attractions in the area. The Granada Airport car hire companies are found in the main arrivals hall, within easy walking distance of all airport facilities, and their vehicles are parked just outside the terminal, in one of the airport’s car parking lots. Hire cars are available from Auto Europa upon arrival at the airport, or they can be reserved in advance, online. Granada Airport can be busy at times, especially during the summer season; therefore, most passengers arrange their rented car prior to their arrival.
Auto Europa’s vehicles are arranged into various car groups, and one of these categories will be selected rather than a car by its specific make and model. Customers will therefore either receive a car the same as the example vehicle shown on Auto Europa’s website for the category chosen, or a vehicle which is very similar in size and characteristics. All cars with lower rental rates are generally smaller models, and they are hired from the Economy and Compact categories. They are similar to the Ford Ka, Toyota Aigo, Seat Ibiza, Renault Megane, Volkswagen Golf, Seat Leon and Kia Cerato. Smaller cars are ideal for single drivers, couples or families, provided that not too many luggage items need to be squeezed in, as the smaller cars don’t offer much room for luggage. However, they are light on fuel, easy to drive, and should take you to any destination, whether it be near or far.
Wagon vehicles from Auto Europa are often chosen by families travelling in Spain, and are similar to the VW Passat Wagon and the Peugeot 307 Wagon, while groups of travellers in need of something larger will find their ideal car at Auto Europa as well. The Opel Zafira seats five passengers, and the Mercedes Viano and Seat Alhambra Van are available for seven. Auto Europa one way hires can be arranged for all the vehicles mentioned, and from Granada Airport, one way hires returned within the same country are not usually any more expensive than an ordinary rental, however, it is best to confirm all details with Auto Europa.
From many of the Granada Airport car rental companies, all-inclusive rental rates are available, which cover the cost of certain types of insurance. Auto Europa, for the majority of their vehicles, offer a basic or all-inclusive rental rate, and customers can select the option which suits them best. The basic rate covers third party liability insurance, fire insurance and VAT, and the all-inclusive rate covers the same, as well as collision damage waiver insurance and theft protection insurance. All vehicles, besides some of the luxury and convertible models, come with unlimited mileage. Not included in the price are any additional items of equipment requested by the customers, for example, child seats and satellite navigation systems, however Auto Europa hand controls for disabled drivers are free of charge from Granada Airport. Hand controls are only used on certain vehicles with an automatic transmission, and will need to be fitted; therefore, an advanced reservation will be required.
At this rental location, the primary renter and all additional drivers listed on the agreement will need to be at least 21 years of age, and must carry a valid drivers license from their home country. Foreign renters will also require an International Driving Permit, according to Spain’s road rules and regulations. However, Auto Europa will not necessarily require this document, especially if your local license is printed in English. All drivers under the age of 25 will pay higher rental rates, for young drivers insurance, and may also not be permitted to hire from certain vehicle categories. This is standard procedure at all major car hire companies. Young drivers insurance is a small amount taken per day of car hire, usually up until a maximum of ten rental days. It is also applicable per underage driver listed on the contract. Besides a drivers license, customers will need a major credit card for payment, as debit cards are not accepted.
Auto Europa, at Granada Airport, will be able to provide all further assistance required.
