Iberia’s pilots are set to repeat their strike action in commencing in March this year, announcing last Friday that strikes would go ahead on March 16th, 19th, 23rd, 25th, 26th and 30th to be followed by more strikes in April and May.
SEPLA (pilot’s union), meanwhile, announced that cabin crew will vote next week, if they are also to go on strike on the same days as the pilots. Iberia’s crews are angry at plans to introduce a new low-cost subsidiary to the airline, namely Iberia Express. Executives speaking on behalf of Iberia Airlines confirmed that nothing would get in the way of the proposed launch and that Iberia Express flights would commence as planned on 25th March 2012.
Granada Airport passengers affected by Iberia Airline’s pilot strike should check regularly with the airport, what alternative flights will be available on the day of their travel. The last strike caused more than 107 cancellations in February. Customers who purchased their tickets via the Iberia Airlines’ website, will get an automatic email notification about flight cancellations, if the strike goes ahead on the above dates. Alternative travel arrangements as well as money back have already been promised by the airline.
Domestic customers have the option to either switch to other airlines or travel by hire car to their chosen city. Several car rental companies offer affordable vehicle options at Granada Airport.
