Granada Airport is one of the important airports found in the country of Spain, and provides a gateway to the city of Granada, Jaen and other areas of the Andalusia region. Granada is about 15km from the airport, while Jaen is about 100km from Granada. Officially, the name of Granada Airport is the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaen Airport, and it is recognised by its airport code of GRX. Various options for transport are available for arriving passengers, including rented cars from Granada Airport car hire companies, such as Record Rent a Car. Record is well known in Spain for their competitive rental rates and excellent customer service.
The airline companies of Air Europa, Spanair, Vueling Airlines and Iberia, amongst others, serve the airport of Granada and the airport mainly handles domestic flights from other Spanish airports, such as Barcelona, Madrid, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca. Passengers will arrive at the single terminal building, on the ground floor, and find the car rental companies in the main arrivals hall. The rented cars are also parked nearby, in the airport car parking area. Record’s rental offices are open to meet the arrival flights of the airport, and passengers will therefore find their services to be very convenient. Vehicles hired from Record should be reserved in advance, over the Internet, in order to secure the best rental rates, and to ensure that their ideal car is available.
Record is one of the leading car hire companies in Spain, and has been providing their services since 1966. They are a company that operates according to a ‘reduced prices philosophy’, and provides all-inclusive rental quotes. Record offers a fleet of over 30,000 vehicles distributed between all their rental offices in the country. There are rental offices at other airports that include Alicante, Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Palma de Mallorca. From Granada Airport, one way hires may be available, which allow the customer to return their rented car to a different location, however, Record one way hires are not permitted, as the drop-off location must be the same as the pick-up location.
From the Granada Airport car rental companies, a wide variety of vehicles are for hire, and they are ideal for all types of driving, and for any number of passengers as well. There are smaller cars suitable for single drivers or couples, such as the Ford Ka, or very large vans, such as the Mercedes Vito for nine passengers. There are also plenty of cars of a medium size, ideal for families and business travellers. For up to five passengers, Record’s vehicles are similar to the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Renault Scenic and Citroen Nemo, while for seven, the Chrysler Voyager is ideal. Most vehicles come with unlimited mileage, air conditioning, power steering and other desirable features. They can also have either a manual or automatic transmission.
From Record Granada Airport, customers are able to arrange a child seat for their journey, or a satellite navigation system to help them find their way. The navigation systems offered are usually top-of-the-range pieces of technology, with turn-by-turn directions, colour touch screens and easy to use interfaces. They are an excellent idea if you are unfamiliar with the road network in and around Granada city. For disabled drivers, the car rental companies of the airport offer a few services, and Record hand controls may be available for hire. The device is used on certain makes of automatic vehicles, and helps the driver with the operation of the main functions of the vehicle, i.e. the brakes and accelerator. It does not usually operate any other functions, for example, the blinkers or car lights. From Granada Airport, hand controls are free of charge, but should be reserved in advance.
In order to rent a car, every person who will drive the vehicle must meet certain criteria. Record customers will need to be at least 21 years of age, and have held a valid drivers license in their home country for a minimum period of one year before their rental date. However, all drivers younger than 25 years of age will pay higher rental rates, for young drivers insurance, and may also not be permitted to hire from certain vehicle categories. Record may not require the driver to have an IDP (International Driving Permit), but all foreign drivers must carry this document according to Spanish Law.
Vehicles collected from Granada Airport will all begin their rental period with a full tank of fuel, and should be returned as empty as possible, however, anyone with rentals of less than four days will have a variety of fuel options from which to choose. Full-Half allows the customer to pay for half a tank, and to return the vehicle half full, and Full-Full allows the customer to simply return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Customers who have purchased fuel upfront will need to return the car as empty as possible, as no refunds are given for unused fuel. Customers must ensure that they use the correct type of fuel for their vehicle, i.e. either petrol or diesel.
