Granada Airport is located approximately 15km, or 9.4 miles west of Granada city, and about 100km, or 62.5 miles south of Jaen, for which the airport provides an important gateway as well. Many even refer to the airport as the Granada-Jaen Airport. However, its official name is the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, and part of this name is in honour of poet and ambassador Federico García Lorca, who was a prominent figure in the cities of Granada and Jaen. The airport is of reasonable size, with around a million passengers per annum, and its facilities include car hire companies, such as Alamo Granada Airport. Alamo is an excellent choice of car Rental Company for leisure travellers, and offers some of the best rental rates in the industry.
Alamo is found just off the site of the airport, at a distance of approximately 0.5km. Car hire companies that have offices at a distance from airports usually offer some form of transport for their arriving passengers, in order to allow them to collect their rented cars. The shuttle services provided are often free of charge as well, and available at all hours of the day when the rental location is open. There is also usually a telephone number that customers can phone when they are ready to be collected from the airport. For the location of Granada Airport, passengers are advised to confirm these details with Alamo. The company’s opening hours are as follows: Monday to Friday (except Thursday) – 08:00 to 22:00, Saturdays – 09:00 to 14:00, and from 17:00 to 20:00, and on Sundays from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 16:30 to 21:30. On Thursdays, Alamo is open from 08:00 to 15:00.
Alamo began their operations as a car hire company in 1974, with a few locations in Florida. From the start, Alamo proved to be a very competitive company, and to care about the needs for their customers. They pioneered the concept of Unlimited Free Mileage, and immediately became a very popular choice amongst leisure travellers. They were soon the largest provider of vacation rental services in the country. Over the years Alamo’s services spread to many other countries around the world, and they continued to offer exceptional options for their customers. In 1985, Alamo introduced a new customised rental agreement the size of an airline ticket, and in 1990, revolutionised collision damage waivers with the first-ever price and coverage option for all renters. They were also one of the first companies to offer a program which stored a customer’s individual rental preferences and information, and the first to provide real-time booking capabilities on the internet. Alamo have always focused their mission on providing families with the best, low-cost and high-value rental experience, and have introduced many programs to accommodate and promote leisure travel.
At Granada Airport, car rental companies, including Alamo, offer passengers a wide range of quality vehicles, ranging from small to large, and from ordinary to elegant. Smaller cars are generally always less expensive to hire, while larger or specialty vehicle models come with a much higher price. Persons in need of a hire car must always consider their budget, but should also choose the vehicle that is most suitable for their needs. For example, smaller cars such as the Fiat Seicento 1.1 are excellent choices for city driving, but are not so good for carrying large quantities of luggage, or for families who need a more spacious interior. Travelling long distances in a car that is too small will end up being most uncomfortable. Vehicles in Alamo’s Economy category are quite popular, as they are fuel efficient and eco-friendly, and also a little larger than the Mini cars. Economy cars are similar to the Citroen C2 1.1. Compact cars are available as well, such as the Citroen Berlingo 1.8 and Citroen C4 1.6, while Midsize vehicles include the Citroen C5 1.6. A Midsize Wagon is a nice family car, and the Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6 from Alamo has an automatic transmission, air bags, power steering and air conditioning.
Other vehicles for hire from Alamo, Granada Airport, may be similar to the Citroen C6 2.2 as a Premium vehicle, the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.8 as a Van seating seven passengers, and the Opel Vivaro, seating up to nine people. There are also a selection of SUVs, similar to the Jeep 4x4 1.8. Alamo one way hires are possible for all passengers who do not wish to return their vehicles to Granada Airport. One way hires may be more expensive, but their price will mainly depend on the final destination chosen. From Alamo, hand controls may also be available for disabled drivers, and all customers may hire child seats for the safety of their younger family members, luggage racks and satellite navigation systems, as optional extra equipment. From Alamo’s rental location of Granada Airport, hand controls are available free of charge, but all other items will cost extra per day of hire.
All customers renting a car will need a valid drivers license, and those from outside of Spain should also have an International Driving Permit when driving in the country. The primary renter and all additional drivers must meet the same criteria for hiring a car, as set by Alamo, and will need a major credit card for payment. Granada Airport car hire options in further detail can be discussed with Alamo.
