Granada Airport is located approximately 9.4 miles, or 15km west of the city of Granada, and is officially named as the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, after a famous poet of the Granada area, Federico García Lorca. The airport is also approximately 62.5 miles, or 100km from Jaén, and nearby Chauchina and Santa Fe. It is an airport of average size, handling around a million passengers per annum, and is considered as a very important gateway to the popular region of Andalusia, Spain. Although public bus services are available, many passengers find that a rented car is the ideal form of transport, and the company of Avis Granada Airport is available for all car rental needs. Avis is well known around the world for both leisure and business travel, and provides vehicles of high quality.
Avis, at Granada Airport, is found in the main arrival hall of the single terminal building, and is open at the following times: Monday to Friday – 08:00 to 23:30, Saturday – 08:00 to 22:30 and on Sundays from 08:00 to 14:00, and from 14:30 to 23:00. The terminal building of the airport offers a wide variety of facilities for its arriving and departing passengers, and is large enough to accommodate the number of passengers that pass through it on a daily basis. Within the arrival area, passengers will also find cash machines and public toilets, and there are tourist information offices nearby. Although cars can be hired directly from the Avis rental counters, it is recommended to make an advanced reservation, preferably online, for the best rental rates. The vehicles of Avis are parked nearby the terminal facilities, in the airport car parking lot, and also within easy walking distance of the Avis rental counters.
Although the Granada Airport car hire companies may differ slightly in their rental terms and conditions, most are similar. At Avis, the primary renter will need to be at least 23 years of age for most vehicle categories, and 25 years of age or older for the following car groups: L (Luxury), M and O (Premium Vans), N (Standard) and P (Mini Van). Drivers younger than the age of 25 will pay an additional amount per day of car hire for young drivers insurance. This amount is usually added up until a maximum of ten rental days. Although Avis will only require your local drivers license, provided that it is a document printed in the Roman alphabet, Spanish Law mandates all drivers to carry both a national driving license and an International Driving Permit. The person should also have held the local drivers license for at least a year prior to the rental date. Customers from the United Kingdom with the new 2-part Photocard must present both the paper document as well as the durable card portion of their license.
When its time for payment of the vehicle, Avis will require the primary renter to have one of the following major credit cards in his/her own name: American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, Mastercard / Eurocard, Visa or an Avis Charge Card, as debit cards are not accepted at the car rental location of Granada Airport. It is also recommended to arrange adequate insurance for your rented car, for example, collision damage waiver and theft protection, and these insurances can be arranged locally from Avis to reduce, or even remove, the insurance excess. However, all insurances are optional from Avis.
The Granada Airport car rental companies offer a wide selection of quality vehicles that are mostly divided into various car groups. From Avis, the car categories of Mini, Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Fullsize, Luxury and Van are available, and these car groups contain vehicles of all shapes and sizes. The Mini, Economy or Compact cars, such as the Ford Ka Titanium, Seat Ibiza, Seat Leon 1.9 or Volkswagen Golf, should be chosen by those who are looking for cheaper rental rates, and if a smaller car is desired. These cars can easily be driven for long or short distances, and are ideal for single drivers, couples or families without too many luggage items. They are also available as Avis one way hires, which means that the customer can deliver their vehicle to a different rental location, other than at Granada Airport. One way hires can be driven to any location in Spain, or even to an Avis location in another European country. Depending on the final destination of the vehicle, the one way hire service may or may not incur additional expenses.
Slightly larger cars from Avis are similar to the Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4, Audi A6 and the Mercedes E250 CDI, which is a Luxury car model, and Avis’ wide range of Vans ensure groups of passengers have many car rental options as well. Fullsize vans seating seven passengers include the Seat Alhambra 2.0, and Premium Vans with room for seven are similar to the Chrysler Voyager 2.8. There are also Vans for nine passengers, for example, the Mercedes Vito. Vehicles from Avis can have manual or automatic transmissions, and mostly feature air conditioning and many other desirable attributes. Other items of equipment can be hired as well, such as satellite navigation systems, luggage racks and child seats, and for disabled drivers, Avis hand controls may be available from Granada Airport. Hand controls are only used on certain types of automatic vehicles, and should therefore be reserved at least 48 hours prior to your arrival at the airport.
Avis, Granada Airport, will be more than willing to further assist all passengers with their car hire requests and enquiries.
